This planet in the Andromeda Galaxy was notable only for its lack of notability. The Aakonians settled it as part of their expansion plans, setting up a colony of some 13 million settlers to erect a city and expand across the planet over time.

Everything changed when the Annihilation Wave came. The invaders launched attacks on planets across the galaxy, and Nycos Aristides was no different. The colony appeared to be doomed until a group of adventurers and heroes – Nova Prime, Tana Nile, Beta Ray Bill and Drax the Destroyer – came to fight off the Wave forces.

In rallying the defences, Tana Nile discovered something odd about Nycos Aristides – a uniqueenergy signature in the planet’s core, the source of the colony’s power supplies via a geothermal tap. She used this energy to send the entire planet into Dimension 11 to escape the Wave – and then again to return to its original universe to fend off Annihilus himself. In the process of dimension-hopping, Nycos Aristedes was projected millions of light-years in an instant – it now orbits a star in the Kree-dominated Greater Magellanic Cloud!

In the wake of this great upheaval, the Aakonians are rebuilding their colony and pledging their efforts to help fight the Wave – and offering their relocated planet as a base for resistance operations. It has become the headquarters of the Unified Front’s Central Command, guarded by cloaking technology and the Kree fleet.
